Do shared tours have a minimum number of guests?
Yes. Shared tours normally require a minimum of four guests overall to operate, although we may choose to run a departure with fewer guests.
You do not need to book four places yourself. Solo travellers, couples and smaller parties are very welcome to book.
If a departure does not reach minimum numbers, we will contact you as early as reasonably possible. We will normally offer an alternative available date, the option to upgrade to a private tour on payment of the additional charge, or a full refund if the tour cannot operate and no suitable alternative is agreed
Children & Families
Families are welcome. However, this is a full-day tour designed primarily for adults and older children. The tour lasts approximately seven hours and may include a walk of around 1.5 miles.
Children under 12 are welcome by prior arrangement. Please contact Simon before booking so we can discuss their age, the walking involved and any seating requirements.
What kind of tour is this?
This is a locally hosted, small-group day visiting locations connected to Clarkson’s Farm and exploring the surrounding Cotswolds.
The tour is limited to a maximum of seven guests.
It isn’t a coach tour. It’s a small group spending the day together, visiting genuine locations, seeing the local countryside and enjoying places that many visitors would otherwise miss.

How big are the groups?
Each tour is limited to a maximum of seven guests.
Seven is enough for good company — and small enough that everyone is part of the day.
What will we actually see?
You’ll visit the well-known locations connected to the programme — including Diddly Squat Farm Shop,The Farmer’s Dog, The Grand Tour Tent and Hawkstone Brewery — alongside other parts of the area most visitors don’t usually discover.
There are also a few surprise stops along the way.
Why don’t you list every stop online?
Some stops aren’t advertised in advance. That’s intentional.
Some places only work if they’re not widely known about. It helps keep the experience genuine, for locals and for future guests.
Do we get a table at The Farmer’s Dog?
No. Chipping Norton Tours does not arrange table bookings at The Farmer’s Dog.
Bookings for The Farmer’s Dog are handled by their own booking system and are in extremely high demand. A reserved table at The Farmer’s Dog is not included as part of the tour.
This is not a culinary tour. The main purpose of the tour is to see the Clarkson’s Farm locations, explore the local area, enjoy the real Cotswold countryside connected with the show, and make new friends while having a great time.
If you would like food at The Farmer’s Dog, there is The Farmer’s Puppy burger van, which usually closes at 15:00, and The Farmer’s Dough pizza wagon, which usually closes at 16:00.
During the tour, I take guests to a proper traditional local pub near Clarkson's Farm, which guests prefer for food, atmosphere, and the overall experience.
How long does the tour last?
The tour starts at 10:30 and lasts approximately seven hours.
We normally reach the final local pub at around 16:30, leave there around 17:30 to be back in Moreton-in Marsh for around 18:00.
You are very welcome to stay on for food and drinks and make a proper evening of it, or return with me to Moreton-in-Marsh.
Regular return trains run until at least 22:00, giving flexibility if you choose to stay longer.
There’s a clear plan — but no strict stopwatch.
Where does the tour finish?
We normally finish at a proper local pub — somewhere locals actually go.
The exact pub may vary depending on the route and what works best on the day. A table reservation is normally made for the group for anyone who would like to stay for food.
Scheduled return transport to Moreton-in-Marsh is included, arriving at around 6pm.
If you’d prefer to leave at a different time, private return transport can be arranged at an additional cost.
Am I obliged to stay on at the pub?
No. Staying at the pub is entirely optional.
On a shared tour, return transport to Moreton-in-Marsh is included at the scheduled return time, usually arriving at around 6pm.
If you’d prefer to leave earlier or stay later, that’s absolutely fine. I’ll help you with the best return option, and private transport can be arranged at an additional cost if needed.
On a private tour, the return time is more flexible and can be agreed with you as part of the day.
Will I meet anyone from the TV programme?
You’ll visit genuine locations connected to the programme, and this is a working part of the Cotswolds, so people from the show may occasionally be seen.
I can’t arrange or guarantee a meeting with anyone from the programme unless it’s specifically advertised as part of a special event, such as Meet Dilwyn the Vet.
Is this affiliated with Clarkson’s Farm or the TV programme?
No, I run Chipping Norton Tours independently, with no connection to the show.
We visit real locations connected to the programme, but we are not affiliated with Clarkson’s Farm, Diddly Squat Farm Shop, Jeremy Clarkson, Amazon Prime, or any associated entities.
Who runs the tour?
I do. I live in Chipping Norton and have worked on farms in the area, so I know the local area, the pubs and the people very well.
Before running Chipping Norton Tours, I spent over 20 years as a commercial helicopter pilot and flight instructor. I worked across the UK and Ireland, the Caribbean, the Middle East, East Africa and Asia, including flying rescue helicopters in the Nepalese Himalayas.
That background means I’m used to looking after people, planning carefully, dealing with changing situations and keeping things running smoothly.
I’ll be your host and driver throughout the day, and because the groups are small, everyone gets a much more personal experience.

Train ticket guidance
If you are travelling by train, please make sure you buy a ticket that suits your own travel plans.
If you are coming and returning on the same day, you may wish to look for a flexible return ticket, such as an Off-Peak Day Return, Super Off-Peak Day Return, or Anytime Day Return, depending on your route and travel times.
Please check the ticket restrictions carefully before buying, especially for weekday travel, as cheaper tickets may only be valid on certain trains.
I recommend avoiding Advance tickets unless you are certain which exact trains you will be using, as these are usually tied to a specific train.
For the most accurate advice, please check with National Rail, GWR, Trainline, or the ticket office before travelling.

Car parking in Moreton-in-Marsh
If you are driving to Moreton-in-Marsh, there is usually plenty of free parking available on the High Street. You can also park in or near the train station but you need to pay for these car parks.
Please check all local parking signs carefully before leaving your vehicle, especially if parking in the Market Place. Moreton-in-Marsh has regular market days, and vehicles left in restricted areas may be towed away.
Chipping Norton Tours is not responsible for parking arrangements, restrictions, charges, fines, or vehicles being towed, so please make sure your car is parked legally before joining the tour.

I highly recommend downloading WhatsApp before your tour.
It is free to use and makes communication much easier, particularly on the day of your tour if I need to contact you about meeting points, timings, train delays or any last-minute updates.
WhatsApp is also the easiest way for me to share photographs from your tour with you afterwards.
